As a VBAC mom myself, these stories are always so near and dear to me!! Oklahoma City VBAC Birth photography is one of my favorite things to photograph. There is such a mental battle that goes on with VBAC moms (at least it did with me), especially when it gets to the point where you had your c-section last time.
Can I do this?
Is my body going to be able to birth my baby this way?
What if I can’t?
I can relate to this all too well!
I got a call from mama around 4am that day, sounding pretty awake and chipper she told me contractions were coming and today was the day.
Great news!
A couple of hours later, I heard they were headed to the hospital…
Then about 30 minutes later, I got a text saying mama was 7cm.
I hurried out to the car, and walked into the hospital when it sounded like mama was pushing a little with each contraction.
When I walked in, her hubby and her doula (Spirited Birth Services) were right by her side, encouraging her and reminding her she CAN do this.
She listened to her body and pushed when she needed to push.
Sometimes, as natural birth crunchy people we are told how bad it is to push on our backs, but sometimes a different position is what’s needed! Mama was so gracious to go with the flow and do what was needed to meet her baby.
Hugs and kisses from big brother!
He’s still not too sure about his brother 🙃
Your first baby will always be your baby, even when they’re not anymore. ❤️
Jill and Charlie, thank you for trusting me to photograph such a beautiful day!!
